At 15, my family and I settled in Gibraltar after an extraordinary two-year journey through European canals on a handmade 60ft catamaran. Growing up in such an unconventional way—splitting my time between homeschooling on the water and mainstream schooling on land—instilled in me adaptability, resilience, and a love for creativity. This unique upbringing shaped my ability to think outside the box and embrace challenges.
When it came time to choose my A-level studies, I faced restrictions that pushed me to seek a different path. My passion for artistic expression led me back to Iceland, where I spent nine transformative months immersed in musical theatre and academics at Kvennaskólinn í Reykjavík. Though my time there was cut short due to personal tragedy, this experience sparked my determination to carve my own creative path.
At just 16, I began my design career at Image Graphics in Gibraltar, where I transitioned from a summer job to a full-time role in the design department under the mentorship of Angela, my mother. Together with my brother Peter, we founded EuropeAxess a creative venture that allowed me to explore and refine my skills in graphic design, client collaboration, and business management.
A few years later, I moved to Ireland, where I gained invaluable experience in the pre-press departments of both Bradbury Graphics and Print Library. These roles deepened my understanding of digital and lithographic printing processes, sharpening my attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. By 2008, with a wealth of experience in both design for print and web, I took the leap into freelancing. Thanks to the rise of broadband, I was able to work remotely with EuropeAxess, managing projects that spanned from Gibraltar to Northern Ireland.
As EuropeAxess wound down in 2014, I began taking on local clients, expanding my expertise into front-end client liaison and animated graphics. At the same time, I delved into back-end coding—honing skills in PHP, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, and UX—while supporting editorial projects like Upon This Rock magazine.
In 2017, I joined Family Media Group as Senior Graphic Designer, producing two monthly magazines, NI4Kids and Scotland4Kids. This fast-paced, deadline-driven environment allowed me to lead design projects, collaborate with editorial and sales teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality publications. My time there was incredibly fulfilling, but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—three months in Thailand followed by a move to America—meant saying farewell to this rewarding role.
Today, with years of diverse experience in graphic design, printing, web development, and project management, I bring a unique blend of creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to every project I take on. Whether designing for print or digital platforms, I am passionate about turning ideas into visually compelling solutions.
